Geocaching is a form of outdoor exploration in which hidden containers around the world are discovered by following GPS coordinates. Its contemporary form began in 2000 in the United States, and the first Hungarian geocache was placed in June 2001. Today, 4,677 searchable caches can be found throughout the Carpathian Basin. After reaching a certain number of finds, players earn the right to hide their own cache at a location they consider meaningful or special.

Beyond promoting time spent in nature, geocaching reveals hidden cultural and natural values—places that may never appear in guidebooks. The joy of treasure hunting is not just a childhood impulse; it is a quiet longing that lives within all of us. Even the act of searching carries its own thrill. The desire to explore, to decipher mysteries, is a fundamental human instinct—one that this game brings vividly to the surface.

I am currently creating a photographic diary of our family's geocaching adventures. It will form a deeply subjective photobook, portraying the emotional rhythm of the search itself. I document the diverse forms of the hidden caches as a kind of visual collection, while also tracing the impressions and atmospheres of the landscapes that conceal them. By following the path of my daughter, the viewer, too, is invited to become a seeker of treasures.

A geocaching egy szabadidős tevékenység, amely során GPS koordinátákat követve lehet keresni eldugott ládikákat szerte a világon. Mai formája 2000-ben indult el az Egyesült Államokból, Magyarországon 2001. júniusában helyezték ki az első geoládát. Jelenleg 4677 kereshető geokincs található a Kárpát-medencében. A játékosok bizonyos elért találatszám után jogosultak elrejteni saját geoládát egy általuk különlegesnek ítélt helyszínen. A természetjárás népszerűsítése mellett olyan rejtett értékeket lehet megismerni a geocaching révén, amely nem biztos, hogy benne van az útikalauzokban. A kincskeresés öröme nem csak a gyermekekben él, hanem mindannyiunkban jelen van, sőt már maga a keresés folyamata is izgalommal tölt el. Egy alapvető emberi ösztön a kutatás, a rejtélyek megfejtése utáni vágy, amely ezzel a játékkal is megtapasztalhatóvá válik. Jelenleg is folyamatosan készítem a családunk geocachinges fotónaplóját. Ez egy teljesen szubjektív fotókönyv lesz, amelyben a kincskeresés érzelmi folyamatát ábrázolom. Az elrejtett geoládák sokféleségét fotógyűjteményként mutatom be, illetve a rejtekhelyek környezetének lenyomatait is végig kísérem. A kislányom útját követve a néző is egy kicsit kincskeresővé válhat.
